How Much Does Mediation Cost?
Each mediation session is unique and will have a different number of parties. The below fees are set for a typical two party mediation session. For our fee structure for mediation for more than two parties to the dispute please call us on: (07) 3184 9181. Prices are subject to change and should be confirmed on booking.
What To Expect.
-
No Obligation 10 min consult
Tell us what type of dispute you are having, how many people are involved, when the dispute began and what you think might settle the matter. We will then determine if mediation is the best approach to settle the matter quickly.
-
Tell us about the dispute
We will then direct you to a form to fill out so that we have more information about the dispute and whether more information will be needed before we begin the mediation session. Once we have that, we will be back in touch. Don’t worry, we will assist you in this process if you need help.
-
Intake Session
Before a mediation can be booked, each party will need to undergo an intake session (usually by phone). You will have up to one hour to speak with the Mediator. This allows the mediator to assess whether your matter is suitable to proceed.
Both parties then return their signed mediation agreements, confirming they agree to settle the dispute through mediation.
-
Undertake Mediation
Depending on the type of matter, Sherri will advise whether you should book either a single half-day or full-day session, or spread the sessions out to ensure the parties have the best chance of settling their matter out-of-court.
Time will be determined based on how far apart the mediator considers the parties appear to be in reaching a settlement.
-
Your Agreement
After the parties have successfully agreed to the terms they are happy to settle on, an informal written agreement is drafted and signed by the parties. The parties then decide whether they wish to formalise it or keep the arrangement informal and flexible.
Who Pays For Mediation?
Parties undertaking mediation are required to pay for the costs of their attendance. Unless agreed otherwise by the Court or between the parties the invoice will be split 50/50. Mediation sessions are conducted with two parties to a dispute, however there may be occasions where there are more depending on the issue in dispute.
